We are recruiting volunteers to help on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday at the
Beacon Friendship Center!
Positions available:
- Suggest and run an activity like Bingo or Arts & Crafts. We are open to suggestions too!
- Serve lunch to seniors at the Friendship Center by carrying trays to tables.
- Visit with the seniors, talk about their interests etc....
- Prepare packaged meals to be delivered to seniors
- Assist in putting prepared food in tins or putting lids on the tins for the home delivered meals. Gloves must be worn and will be supplied by the center.
- Packing
- Assist packing coolers by putting hot plates and ice packs in delivery bags with dinner trays and lunch bags. Packing hot meals in bags.
- Clean up the kitchen.
- Wash a few pans, put ice packs in the freezer and hot stones in the oven. Put the coolers and bags back on the shelves.
- Back-up Volunteers - would you be willing to be a back-up volunteer? We will call you to volunteer if a volunteer is unable to make their day/time.
We ask all volunteers to commit to/select the "job(s)" and day(s) each month that they would like to volunteer so that the Director has a schedule.
The Friendship Center is open from 10:00am - 2:00pm Mon – Fri and most volunteer positions are an hour or less. Of course, we welcome our volunteers to stay longer and help with whatever is needed.

Beacon Meal Delivery Program
Volunteers with the Beacon Meal Delivery Program through Community Action Partnership for Dutchess County, Inc. help to provide home delivered meals to elderly and frail individuals in Beacon, NY.
Must have a valid driver’s license. An agency vehicle is provided.
This volunteer opportunity is flexible. Each meal delivery volunteer signs up for what day(s) they wish to volunteer each month. This opportunity is available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, approximately 10:00am - 12noon each day.
